technically you could say it is still docked but everyone is boarding (actually it’s under construction) and “preparing” for the maiden voyage. Now that we have the cheesy nautical references out of our system, under construction is one of the newest designs of Brown-Arch, in collaboration with Fabric UDO, the Flagship 2 (FS2). FS2 is an expansion of the Digital Corridor’s highly successful Flagship development, downtown Charleston’s premier co-working business incubator space. The Flagship is an initiative of the City of Charleston and managed by the Charleston Digital Corridor to meet the needs of knowledge based companies seeking adaptable, affordable office and conference facilities.

At 13,700 square feet, FS2 is designed to meet the growing needs of these companies as they expand beyond the initial start-up phase, and complement the adjacent Flagship’s current 5000 square foot facility. FS2 is providing larger suites ranging from 300 to 5,000 square feet allowing for autonomy and room for additional employees. Flagship2 is located between East Bay and Alexander Streets in an existing building that has formerly housed Luden’s and Channel 5′s television studios. Thanks to Clambank Construction Flagship 2 is well on it’s way towards the anticipated early April completion.

Brown-Arch and Fabric, along with the entire project team, have put much effort and thought into the planning and layout of the facility to best support both the Flagship mission and the companies that will be using FS2. As the “departure” date approaches we will further this discussion in future posts.
